Former Ohio State football player Bri'onte Dunn arrested after woman overdoses
Former Ohio State running back Bri'onte Dunn was arrested on a charge of felony drug possession Friday in Grandview Heights after a woman overdosed.
According to arrest reports, Grandview Heights police officers were dispatched around 8:43 a.m. Friday to the 800 block of Junction Way, where they discovered a woman who overdosed in the residence.
After police administered two doses of Narcan, the woman regained consciousness and was later transported to a local hospital.
Several narcotics discovered inside
Police said Dunn, 27, was suspected of being involved in the overdose and was arrested. Two search warrants were obtained and police said they discovered several narcotics inside the residence, including a large bag containing 20.4 grams of cocaine in a jacket belonging to Dunn.
Dunn was arraigned Saturday morning in Franklin County Municipal Court and has a preliminary hearing on Friday.
The charge is a second-degree felony, based on the amount of cocaine found.
In October 2018, Dunn was found not guilty of two counts of rape filed after a woman who cared for Dunn but had broken up with him alleged he forced sex on her when she brought him to her apartment so he could call an Uber.
Dunn, a four-star recruit from Canton, was a backup running back with the Buckeyes from 2012 to 2015, until he was dismissed from the team in summer 2016 for violating team rules.
Dunn had been expected to compete for the starting running back job that fall following the departure of star RB Ezekiel Elliott.
The Dispatch reported Dunn's dismissal came after he was criminally charged with domestic violence for a physical confrontation with his girlfriend, who had obtained a protection order against him.
Dunn ultimately pleaded no contest in February 2017 to a reduced charge of misdemeanor assault and was placed on two years of probation and ordered to stay away from the woman.
