Wildlights at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium only a month away

While central Ohio has embraced the hallmarks of the autumn season, many are already gearing up to celebrate the beautiful magic that comes with each Columbus winter.

The falling of snowflakes and brewing of hot chocolate will be illuminated by the millions of lights set to fill the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium during this year's Wildlights Season.

As one of central Ohio's most cherished holiday traditions, the annual attraction will open to the general public on Nov. 19 and run through Jan. 2. As in past years, the entire zoo will be transformed into a winter wonderland with more than 3 million LED lights and an assortment of fun activities.

Hours for the gleaming spectacle will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays, and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. The remaining festivities will follow regular zoo hours, which began at 10 a.m. each day.

Admission for Wildlights will be free with a zoo ticket. Prices for Franklin County residents are $16.99 for guests 10-59, or $11.99 for attendees 3-9 and 60 and older, and free for children younger than 3.

For non-Franklin County residents, tickets cost $21.99 for guests 10-59, or $16.99 for attendees 3-9 and 60 and older, and free for children younger than 3. And with each ticket sold, $1 will be added to the purchase price to support the zoo’s conservation efforts.

Wildlights will be closed during Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
