Henderson County Schools' search for new superintendent slowed by pandemic

HENDERSON, Ky. — Though most of Thursday's virtual meeting took place in executive session, Henderson County Schools officials signaled the district's continued search for a new superintendent.

With current Superintendent Marganna Stanley stepping down June 30 after six years, the HCS Board of Education members and screening committee are narrowing their list of potential candidates.

School board attorney Beth Bird noted that the hiring process has slowed due to COVID-19-related restrictions, limiting in-person interaction.

Through most of Thursday's meeting, the board members were in executive session conducting an interview for the position. With the screening committee completing its initial review of applicants, the group is looking to schedule more interviews in the coming weeks.

No definitive timeline for further interviews has been set, Bird said, as scheduling remains "fluid" due to the availability of candidates and committee members.

"Hopefully we'll have a better idea next week of when we think the board will be in a position to make its final decision," Bird said.

No knowledge about the interview or the remaining candidates will be released publicly due to privacy restrictions, Bird said. However, further information concerning the hiring process will be announced in the coming weeks.
