World's greatest superheroes will be on display in new Marvel exhibit at COSI

The world's greatest comic book characters will make a superhero landing at the Center of Science and Industry in November for the new "Marvel: Universe of Super Heroes" exhibition.

The exhibit, which will chronicle the creation of culture-defining heroes like Captain AmericaSpider-ManBlack Panther and others, will make its debut at the science center, on Nov. 26 and run through May 30, 2022.

The immersive showcase will feature hundreds of Marvel's most iconic costumes, props and original art, making it a popular attraction in central Ohio, COSI President and CEO Frederic Bertley said.

History of Marvel Universe to unfold in exhibit

"Marvel speaks to people from the womb to the tomb," Bertley said. "If you're 80 years old or 5 years old, you have a Marvel character that you love. There's something for everybody."

Curated by a team of visionaries and comic book scholars  — Benjamin Saunders, Matthew J. Smith, Randy Duncan, Ann Nocenti and Danny Fingeroth — the exhibit will be filled with artifacts, engaging set pieces and other installations to tie the storied history of Marvel together.

“Our show begins with the origins of the Marvel Universe and moves through to the present day, giving a chance to see some of the rarest and most precious objects from the past 80 years of pop-culture history and pointing toward the future with work from some of today’s foremost creators,” Saunders said in a press release.

Attendees will enjoy a tour through the mirror dimension of Doctor Strange, have an up-close look at concept sketches, props and costumes from Marvel Studios blockbusters, and even step foot inside the lab of Tony Stark — and much more.

"It is a marvelous universe, and we're bringing that marvelous universe to the marvelous city of Columbus to the marvelous new exhibition at COSI," Bertley said. "Come marvel at the marvelous production."
